Our Approach

Governance is the product.

Any firm can find a name. We govern the outcome. The Valence Performance Framework™ ensures every mandate — from brief to handover — is tracked, reported, and completed with measurable impact.

The Valence Performance Framework™

Five stages.
Active oversight at every one.

01
Brief & Alignment

We scope the mandate precisely.

We meet with the client — in person where possible — to scope the mandate precisely. Not just the role title: the situation, the leaders involved, the success criteria, and the constraints. A poorly scoped mandate fails before it starts.

Output: Mandate Brief Document — signed off by client before search begins.
02
Expert Identification

We search our pre-vetted network first.

Where the right profile does not exist in-network, we activate our partner ecosystem. Every candidate goes through our 3-stage vetting process: CV and track record review, structured competency interview, and reference verification.

Guarantee: Shortlist of 2–3 candidates within three weeks of brief sign-off.
03
Deployment

We brief the expert on the framework from day one.

We facilitate the final selection, negotiate terms, and manage onboarding. The expert knows from day one what governance looks like and what the success criteria are.

Output: Transformation Charter — agreed between client, expert, and Valence before the mandate begins.
04
Govern & Track

This is where Valence is different.

We do not disappear after placement. We hold regular structured check-ins with both the expert and the client. We track milestone progress, flag risks early, and produce board-level progress reports at agreed intervals.

Outputs: Monthly milestone report · Risk log · Board-ready summary.
05
Transition & Close

We manage the ending deliberately.

Every mandate has an end. The expert documents what was built, what decisions were made, and what the organisation needs to sustain the outcome. We facilitate formal handover and conduct a post-mandate review with the client.

Output: Mandate Completion Report — outcomes achieved, knowledge transferred, next steps documented.
The Intellectual Framework

The Four Forces
of Transformation.

Most transformation mandates don't fail for lack of strategy. They fail because one of four underlying forces was missing — and nobody noticed until the cost became unavoidable. Valence builds every mandate around these four forces.

Force 01

Leadership capability

The right person, with the right experience, in the right role, at the right moment. Not a strong CV in general — a CV that matches this mandate, this organisation, and this stage of its journey. Capability mismatched to context is the single most common reason transformation efforts underperform.

Force 02

Execution governance

Strategy without structured accountability drifts. Clear milestones, defined decision rights, and consistent board visibility turn intention into delivery. This is the force most consultancies hand off after the strategy is written — and the one Valence stays to own.

Force 03

Cultural alignment

Change programmes that ignore the human and cultural dimension fail. Always. Local context — how decisions actually get made, how trust is built, how change is received — determines whether a transformation plan survives contact with the organisation it's meant to change.

→ Runs throughout Deployment & Governance

Force 04

Structural continuity

Transformation that cannot be sustained after the expert leaves is incomplete. Handover is not optional. The measure of a successful mandate isn't what the expert achieved while present — it's what the organisation can sustain once they're gone.
